So, over forty books later, and I guess the concept of an evil camera which predicts a grisly future was just too strong for Stine to resist, and we have him returning to protagonist Greg, who seemingly didn't learn any lessons in the previous book. But no, my expectations were suitably low and Stine just about managed to raise to the occasion to meet them. If it hadn't been for the last slew of Goosebumps books which each seemingly try to both overwhelm with nonsense whilst underwhelm with enjoyment or quality - The Beast from the East, Egg Monsters from Mars, Bad Hare Day, Night of the Living Dummy III, How I Got My Shrunken Head, The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena - perhaps I would have held high hopes for this very belated sequel. I should have been optimistic for Say Cheese and Die - Again! as I liked the concept of Say Cheese and Die! but felt the execution could have been improved. As it was only my second Goosebumps book (due to the original UK release ordering being different) I was still optimistic for the series and enjoying the nonsense that R.L. Take me back to a more innocent time, back to February 2019 when I had just finished reading Say Cheese and Die! - my second Goosebumps book during this misjudged adventure to revisit my childhood and swim in nostalgia. But I was thinking 'it's a buddy read and SURELY it can't get worse, and it won't take long' and my, how wrong I was. I'm sorry, it's the first time (and hopefully the last) that I seriously wanted to DNF a Goosebumps book.

I can't believe I managed to finish this, but only because it's a buddy read. I never thought i'd give a Goosebumps book 1 star. I can't form a coherent review of all the things in this book that make me want to rage. The adult teacher is a cruel bastard adding to the fatphobia. It's like Stine wrote himself into a corner, forgot what was established, and I question how he thought this was ok for children with the extreme fatphobic comments and body horror?Įvery time I thought it couldn't get worse. It's like the kids, who KNEW this, completely said to hell with it even though things had gotten extremely bad. In the first book (spoiler alert) it's established that ripping up the pictures means everything will return to normal. Way to make any overweight child feel like shit, just give them this book (don't, please please don't). There is some intense body horror that is too much for a children's book.

Most Goosebumps books don't have a sequel, a few do.and this one should not have been one of them.

What the FUCK did I just read?! I have never been so angry at a book before! I've been angry yes, but the fact this is ment for CHILDREN makes it worse!
